Estimation and Resource Planning

Managing an End to End SAP Change Request can often be stressful. So to make your life easier, ImpleVista has "Estimation and Resource Planning” tool in the Application Cockpit which comes with refreshing features that simplifies the estimate per Change Request. The estimation and resource planning can be handled in terms of "Resources" or "Resource Type", Cost in terms of "Hours required" and estimation for different phases of the project.

 The biggest advantage to the customer of using 'Estimation and Resource Planning' is the "Cost". There is no need for any third party tool or any additional license cost. The Estimation and Resource Planning tool is part of the Application Cockpit built on SAP Solution Manager and is tightly integrated with the Change Request Management and SAP PS for WBS/Network creation and Procure to pay process. This tool is easily customizable by the customer as per their need.

Assignment of resources to a Change Request is quick and easy using the Estimation and Resource Planning tool in the Application Cockpit. By selecting your Change Request and within few mouse clicks, you can assign relevant resources types. Example, Technical Resource like ABAP developer or a Functional Consultant/configurator, a Business Tester or an Authorization resource. It is also possible to identify any resources which are under-allocated and assign them to new tasks or Change Request as you wish. You can balance your project management resources quickly and easily with this Planning tool. Through effective Resource Planning, you no longer have to worry about being over utilized and stressed. By using the Estimation and Resource Planning tool, you can spread the workload, boosting team productivity.

The newly assigned resources can request access to respective SAP systems or relevant Roles via the System Access Request tool which is also part of the ImpleVista’s Application Cockpit.

There are two flavors of this Solution:

1. The Basic Estimation Tool – Helps add resources and number of hours, do re-estimation if needed, propose Resource names for the identified Resource Types and then get them confirmed for the Change Request by your Resource Manager.

2. Advanced Estimation and Resource Planning Tool – Is an extension of the Basic estimation tool which in addition to the above mentioned features, also enables you to estimate and plan hours put on each of the resources to the granular level of Monthly, Weekly and Daily estimates. This helps manage your resources much better and thus help analyze the deviations in the estimates and the actuals logged against the corresponding SAP WBS/Network element. Thus you can better plan to improve your organization’s productivity.

Various reports are made available in the Estimation and Resource Planning tool to let you derive different statistics. The report which you can get from the tool are:

• Find the list of all changes request where a resource type like ABAP Developer is needed for a particular release or a project.
• Find the Changes requests to which a particular resource (user) has been “Confirmed” and also view the number of hours allocated per change request.
• Find the list of Resource Types and number of hours (CR Estimation) per change request or project etc.
